PMG LOCATIONS

The Peace Monitoring group was spread out over the entire island including the island of Buka. During my time in 2000 there were seven main locations - Arawa, Loloho, Buin, Buka, Sirakatau, Tonu and Wakunai. The other locations below are all well know sites in Bougainville.

ARAWA The capital of Bougainville	BONNIE DOON Closest beach to Loloho - many PMG staff visited this beautiful beach and coral outcrop
BUIN Located in the south of Bougainville	BUKA Island to the North of Bougainville
CHOOKPEN + TROPICANNA Two houses in Arawa - RASIGS live in these houses	CLUB GECKO Located in Arawa. This house was for pers who worked out of HQ PMG. This is where I lived while in Bougainville.
HQ PMG The headquarters of the Peace Monitoring Group. All the big wigs worked out of here controlling the PMG - located in Arawa	KIETA A harbour town south of Arawa. Used to be a resort town. Also has a number of WW2 monuments and an air strip.
LOLOHO Home of the Logistic Support Team (LST) and 171 Op Spt Sqn (Choppers). Also had an internet cafe, kithchen, admin/pay, workshop, MPs and Frontline shop.	MT ARAWA One of the Monitoring Team locations based in Arawa
MOUNT BAGANA Active volcano in the middle of Bougainville.	PANGUNA COPPER MINE Open cut copper mine in Bougainville.
SIRAKATAU One of the Monitoring Team locations based in Sirakatau.	TONU One of the Monitoring Team locations based in Tonu.
WAKUNAI One of the Monitoring Team locations based in Wakunai.
